Born and raised in Mexico, Jorge D’Soria began his career as a painter at an early age of five. He quickly became one of the youngest and fastest learning tools in his school, which were used to teach other students and also paintings to beautify the school itself. In the years to come, his artistic talent capabilities exploded to the highest levels, which brought Jorge to the United States to work with well-known architects to CEOs of large companies, banks, and many others. In fact, the owner and CEO of Boston Banks in Massachusetts, Harris Whittemore III, was so impressed with Jorge that he commissioned him to paint eighteen family portraits that he proudly hung them on the walls of his mansion in Connecticut alongside of original Monet paintings and Whistler's sketches.
Soon thereafter, his career catapulted to even higher levels. One of Jorge's biggest projects was a large fifty-foot (50 ft) Aztec Calendar, painted on the circle of the courtyard of the Historic Aztec Hotel, along Route 66 in Monrovia, CA. Armed with solely black and white photographs and his jeweler's magnifying glass, Jorge's phenomenal talent allowed him to re-create twenty detailed paintings in the exact style of the ancient Aztec and Mayan that were significant in the hotel, dated back to 1926. Jorge's creativity and technique of using his sense of color, shading, light and darkness, and natural movement help him recreate and restore historic treasures that were once thought to be lost forever.
Known in San Diego as 'the Artist of the Aztec Hotel,' his triumphant completion of the project led him yet to another artistic masterpiece pertaining to the highlights of the United States history. Jorge was one of the artists that painted a large portion of the murals, one 42'x9' and another 15'x10, of scenes from the Civil War in a warehouse in Monrovia, CA. The 42-foot-wide Gettysburg mural was later transported to Springfield, Illinois --depicting scenes of battlefield action to the aftermath of death. It is currently displaying in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
One of his most memorable murals was in 2004 at La Dolce Vita Ristorante in La Jolla, CA --where he was commissioned to paint the famous Trevi Fountain scene. This classic 1960 Federico Fillini's La Dolce Vita was a high-grossing and critically-acclaimed that featured the alluring screen-goddess Anita Elkberg and Marcello Mastroianni.
His most recent and prominent work is a giant mural, 33.5 ft x 10 ft, of sixteen of the most famous Masons that ever lived. It was painted on the exterior wall of their lodge in the historic city of Grapevine, Texas. The project took him a month to finish due to rainy weather condition and was completed in June 2009.
Jorge lives in Arlington, Texas with his wife and partner Jewel who has been faithfully by his side for fifteen years. She is also an accomplished pianist and accompanies Jorge to his performances --whether it is opera or impersonation. His impersonates with the likes of George Burns, Columbo, Charlie Chaplin, and more.
Jorge has touched the hearts of many with his creativity and dramatic tenor. His performances as an impersonator and painter has kept Jorge’s calendar full.
